Assuming you mean MPC, an MPC model for an integrating process is a ramp. The prediction uses the MPC model and the MV move to predict the magnitude of the response. Since the MPC model is itself a ramp, which has a slope or “gradient”, one could say that the “gradient of the process value” is used with the MV move to predict the magnitude of the response.
